Welcome to Bluesteel Chronicles! We are thrilled to share the growth/development of our Masterman Robotics team from the ground up.

Beginning of the Journey

On October 18th, the Masterman BlueSteel Dragons (10918) competed in their first pre-season event, Ramp Riot! The event took place at Wissahickon High School in Ambler, Pennsylvania.

Support

The week prior to and the week leading up to the Ramp Riot, a generous loan from the Mount Olive Robotics Team became available. A massive shout-out to them for lending us their robot, Beta 1

Game Day

The day of the main event arrived, and the Bluesteel Dragons charged into the competition, determined to learn and build public relations.

The arena was buzzing; the teams were prepped with anxiety, and the robot was almost ready…

During practice before the first qualification round, the robot's string snapped. You know the important one… the pulley system. The team knew there was no time to waste, so it swarmed around the robot like bees. It did not matter whether it was OG members or recruits; it was about one team collaborating to solve a problem.

The pulley system was finally fixed, and our drivers were sent to the field, where they encountered another issue: controlling the robot. There was an issue with the controls' programming, which caused the newbie drivers to struggle. Again, our AMAZING LEADERS stepped in to guide the new drivers in the highly pressured environment.

What We Learned

Although we may not have won, we gained valuable experiences from the competition. At the end of the day, the Ramp Riot was a crash course for our new members to familiarize themselves with the pressure of a competition.

Stay tuned for the next chronicles!
